Snow covered Sakura and Tokyo in March!

It started with sleety rain this morning and turned into snow by noon.

Snow covered Tokyo in March!

It's been 3 years since we had snow after cherry blossom season started.
March 21 is Spring Equinox Day, usually we have nice warm spring weather around this day. However temperature drastically dropped in the morning and it felt like cold as winter. Temperature was 2 degrees Celsius (35 degreed Fahrenheit), which was literally freezing. It looks like weather will be better tomorrow. Excepted temperature will be around 17 degrees Celsius (62 degrees Fahrenheit.

It has snowed* 6 times in the past 30years (1988-2017). It seems rare to see snow after Japanese Cherry blossomed but last time we had snow and cherry together was on April 8, 2015.
*We counts mixture of snow and rain as well here.
